I think it’s quite wonderful that Mother’s Day and Cinco de Mayo land so close to one another this year. I’ve chosen to let these paper poppy flowers do double duty this year as decoration for both. I love the bright colors on these, but imagine what they might look like in more sophisticated whites and grays with pearlescent or beaded centers. Quite stunning, perfect for a Wedding or Baby Shower, or even New Year’s Eve. The possibilities are endless and since these are easily 10 inches diameter, always dramatic.

I used this Martha tutorial and although mine are different, I love the way they turned out all the same. Next year I plan on having an entire garland of these giant poppies to string across my patio.
These are some other flowers I enjoy and plan on creating in the near future.

I know my mom would enjoy a bouquet of any of these. The Made by Lex Flower Pin or the Creative Little Daisy flower would make a festive corsage for Mom to wear on Mother’s Day and throughout the year. I can think of many places to put the fabric flowers from Between the Lines, how about on a wreath, your purse, a table or mantle centerpiece, or even perched on your dashboard (I always wanted a VW Bug). Have fun and please share with us and these wonderful ladies if you’ve been inspired to make your own!
Cinco de mayo, Cinco de mayo, la la la la la la la (To the tune of La Cucaracha, I’ll let you choose your own video, as some of these are VERY bizarre) Does anyone else sing this every May?

Love the flowers you made! I think my non crafty self could even make those!

These are great! I just discovered a flower tutorial much the same at Jones Design Company. You should check it out!
These are also great for a 6 year old niece’s Woodland Fairy Birthday Party!
