Summer setting

I know that spring has just arrived — we’ve had weird weather here on the prairie in the last few months.

Yet I’m already inspired and excited for summer — not the unbearable heat that will likely arrive in 2 or 3 weeks — but for the color.

Inspired by the bright Gerber daisies I planted in my yard (on my annual gardening spree) and by the fun colors of Cinco de Mayo, I’m determined to add a little spice to my kitchen accessories. A girl’s gotta cook stylishly, no?

It all started with these….

I spied these beautiful mini bowls at Anthropologie a few weeks ago on the sale table. I bought a stack for less than $12, and use them all the time for sauces with meals, desserts or quick snacks.

I love my everyday dishes from Pottery Barn, but after a few good years, I’m ready for some brighter meals. I’ve been a fan of Fiestawear forever, and I think I’ll start with this server to break up my white. Love its cheery disposition.

Next, I found these handy mixing bowls from Crate & Barrel. And they’re a steal, too.

And finally, to make the table look great, I’m ending up right where the shopping spree began, at Anthropologie (sorry, our store in Tulsa is fairly new, so we are still very excited about its existence!).

This gorgeous tablecloth will make all my summer dinner parties that much more fun. Well, the ones I dream up anyway…usually, these fabulous parties consist of my husband and me.

Happy early-summer dreaming!
