For the past couple of weeks I have been trying to make the house feel a little more like fall. The key work is “trying”. Really that just means that I have dried black beans, dried wheat stalks, and pumpkins sitting on my kitchen table, trying to figure out what to do with them. I’m telling you, it’s so much easier for me to help other people with their homes than it is for me to work on my own home!
One area that I am definitely on top of is the candle area. I love fall candles. They are my favorite. Right now my favorites are from Bath and Body Works. I may have been in there multiple times in the past couple of weeks just smelling all the new fall fragrances! Here are my selections for making your home smell like fall….

I found these gold and silver painted pumpkins at Michael’s. I bought a couple and am going to try and use them on my mantle.
And wouldn’t these pumpkins be a great addition to your front porch? It would be adorable with white ones as well!

I need something tall to go on my mantle along with the pumpkins, so I was thinking about a bundle of dried wheat stalks. I love the warm yellow color. Unfortunately I haven’t found any pre-made bundles around town, so I am going to attempt making some on my own. Mind you…I am not the super crafty type….that’s Dawn and Roxanne! We shall see how that goes.

For the summer months I filled some recycled glass jars (spaghetti sauce jars, olive jars, and salsa jars that I took the labels off of) with sand and white votive candles for the mantle. I am going to replace the sand with black beans and see how that looks.
Hopefully this weekend I will be able to get some of these little projects completed (while working on getting our Issue 3 magazine laid out, of course).
I’ll leave you with this fabulous living room I stumbled upon…..

I love all the natural wood. Simple and beautiful. The use of fall colors combined with some natural branches and a burning fire give the room a great cozy fall atmosphere. I could definitely cuddle up there with a cup of hot cider.
