If you are anything like me when it comes to color for your own home, you have a hard time deciding on a color scheme. Whether selecting a paint color, a home accessory or a piece of furniture, it’s so hard to narrow it down. There are just so many colors to choose from and I love them all! The possibilities are endless and can be overwhelming. Until now…
A few weeks ago, I attended a luncheon that presented Pittsburgh Paint’s Color Trends for this year. It was interesting to see how trends come about and how they are interpreted in different ways from shoes, clothing, art, interiors, etc. The presenter of the seminar talked about the four color trends that Pittsburgh Paint had labeled as Instinct, Glamour, New Bohemia and Upcycle. (Click on each link to see how the colors can be used in a space). He asked for a show of hands of who was drawn to which trend category. Again, I couldn’t decide. (I think I raised my hand for 3 trends!) While I loved many of the color combinations, it still didn’t narrow down my color personality.
The presenter went on to talk about The Voice of Color – Color Sense Game. It’s a feature on PPG’s website that will narrow all those millions of color choices down to one ‘personality’ with five color combinations that will work best for you. And you don’t even have to choose any specific colors! You pick a getaway spot that appeals to you, which dessert you would choose, and even which musical diddy speaks to you. The game then considers all of your responses and presents to you a ‘color personality analysis’ that lists the several hues that reflect you!
Here was my analysis from PPG’s Color Sense Game:
Pop Art
You are either a dynamic person or you crave that energy, and therefore you have been lead to the Pop Art Harmony Collection. These playful, saturated hues adapt well to both artificial and natural light and shine in modern settings and children’s rooms.
Welcome to the imaginative world of Pop Art, a playground for your senses filled with vibrant colors. Here, modern innovative color combinations create energetic and happy harmonies that exude personality and invigorate your decor. The most dynamic of our Harmony Families, Pop Art is for the lighthearted and daring, for those who don’t always play by the rules, and for those who live to laugh out loud.
You’ll thrive in these palettes if stripes and humor energize you and if you are a pleasure-seeker who welcomes company, imagination, and smiling multi-colors.
I was also given a secondary analysis:
Secondary Harmony Family: Water Beads
You are drawn to refreshing and peaceful blues of the Water Beads Harmony Collection. Blues will create the calm you crave and they are particularly suited to rooms made for rest and relaxation.
Pretty spot on! I have quite a bit of color throughout my home, yet my bedroom is a soft robin’s egg blue and is a very calming little retreat for me. As a matter of fact, this Pop Art color combination is pretty much my living room:
So when I next hesitate over color options of a fabric, I will consult these results to help direct my choice.
Now it’s your turn! Go try this game (it takes about 8 minutes) and see how well it captures your personality. Then come back here and let us know what color combination you are and if you think it was on point or not! Have fun!

Primary: Desert Spice, Secondary Harmony Family: Pop Art
I thought it was pretty close.
I was Al Fresco. Fun! I don’t love greens but i gravitate towards them and this proved it.
