  1. You’re not the only one! I also have some hand-me-downs (the avocado green set with white flowers) and absolutely love the. I say, if you see them now, buy them up because they are becoming so popular, soon they will be hard to find or astronomically priced! LOVE all the collection photos :)

  2. I had that set of 4 colored bowls and I loved them so much. But I also used them and put them in the dishwasher and now the only ones I have left are the small red and blue ones and it makes me so sad.

Unfortunately, Corning sold the housewares division of Corning Glass Works in 1996 to a conglomerate called World Kitchen’s, Inc. They have exclusive rights to the PYREX name and all Corning housewares lines. I sincerely doubt that they will go to the expense of reintroducing the old “fired-on” colored pieces. They have already pretty much ruined the PYREX name by changing the original borosicilicate glass formula to a less expensive, less heat stable soda lime formula. Sad but true. The old pieces made between 1915 and 1996 are worth searching out. I love the oldest Pyrex made between 1915 and about 1945 but some of those fired-on colored pieces are just too beautiful to pass up!
