Ever have a hard time finding the perfect tablecloth or runner? Wrong colors or patterns? Well, that is exactly where we were with this particular party. Lisa had searched all around and couldn’t find the right piece. So, she decided that we could make our own.
It really was simple and only took about an hour and a half. Of course if you decide to get all fancy with your design you might be at it a little longer!
Items Needed:
-duck cloth in a size that fits your table (Lisa picked ours up from Hobby Lobby…and it was on sale!)
-blue painters tape
-acrylic fabric paint in your choice of colors (available at craft stores)
Instructions:
-First step is to decide what design you want on your tablecloth. We decided to go with a simple stripe design that had varied stripe widths.
-Once you have decided on your design you will need to tape off the areas that you want to paint with the blue painters tape. For us, we wanted the plain duck cloth to show through in places so we simply taped off varied stripe widths with the tape. Once you have put the tape down go back over the edges with your fingers and make sure the edges are sealed really well. This will help keep the paint from bleeding under the tape.
-After taping all you have to do is paint. We would suggest you go along the tape edges first very carefully to prevent bleeding even more, and then work your way to the center.
-Allow paint to dry to the touch and then peel off tape.
-Once tape is removed allow tablecloth to dry completely overnight before rolling or folding.
-BE CREATIVE! Have fun with the size, design, and colors. Possibilities are endless!
