This is how I always grocery shop…what about you?
But seriously, after a week of vacation, I think I’ll be wearing a maxi dress for the rest of summer.
It’s inevitable — if you leave the house this season, you might as well be wearing a maxi — dress or skirt, that is.
The ever-flattering maxi is at the office, in restaurants and clubs at night, and everywhere in between. Even if you shirked the trend for the first couple of years, you might reconsider the versatile style. The look is long, lean and comfortable. And it’s going nowhere.
That’s because it’s universally flattering. Whether you are tall or short or any size, the style is great for many occasions.
The good news is you can get creative with what kind of maxi is right for you — from simple jersey knit (my favorite) to wild prints, there’s a maxi out there for you. Here are the the trends in maxi styles this summer:

1. The cutout back. This is a great choice for a wedding or evening out. This dress also shows another maxi trend this season — the sheer skirt. With two trends in motion, this dress is best unleashed at night and with minimal accessories. Let it speak for itself!

2. The high-low dress. This is what I’ve often called the “mullet dress,” but they’ve gotten much more streamlined this season. A great choice for day and night. With this bright color and subtle hem-shift, you could wear this dress practically anywhere — dressed up with heels and jewelry, or with sandals for the beach.

3. The maxi skirt. This style is everywhere this summer — the knife-pleat maxi skirt is a great choice for a sunny day, especially for work or shopping. A bit trickier than the ever-flattering maxi dress, make sure you try on this style. If you have an hourglass figure (like me) or are more petite, it might feel boxy if paired awkwardly. Best bet, go for a white or neutral top

4. The one-shoulder. Sure, there’s nothing technically NEW about this look, and that’s the point. It’s a classic. Hit the town, make it grand and have a vacation every weekend this summer.
