As some of you know, we are making room for one more in our home…which means that in addition to creating a nursery space (more on that LATER), we are moving my home office into a small guest room. While for some people working from home means time on the sofa with a laptop, I am definitely more productive when I have a designated space where I can focus. I’m a firm believer that people do better, more creative work when in pleasant, inspiring surroundings – so although my office space is being downsized, it’s just as important to me to organize and decorate it with as much effort as I am putting into the baby room! For the last few months, I’ve been pulling images, thinking about what I’d like to do with the new space…
I am in love with the image above…the neutral, clean furniture mixed with some personal, textured elements and bursts of color. I can’t decide if I’m ready to take the plunge with the dramatic dark wall though.

This is a little more subtle…plus, it’s a chalkboard, so it’s functional as well. The neutrals with wood are nice and clean (although I can guarantee my space would never be this clutter free!). What I’m eyeing the most here is the storage…perfect for pens, pencils, scissors, etc. – and take up no drawer or shelf space!

Can you see where I’m going yet? The dark wall and moody tree branch are gorgeous, but I think I need a little more pep. However, I LOVE this inspiration line with clothespins…perfect for my ever changing projects, tidbits of info I find and personal photos.

The next couple of images are nice and bright…once more mixing woods, whites and neutrals, adding in lots of texture and natural materials. This feels organized, but not too perfect – way closer to reality for me! I would love a window like this to gaze out while I work…

This space is about as clean as you come, but the added bright patterns and colors give it some personality. I will definitely be adding some brights into my space, thanks to a happy accident where a random piece of art I’ve been trying to place forever works perfectly with a pillow I bought in the Missoni Target frenzy.

This is probably a little closer to what I’ll end up with…clean, neutrals with color and a little personality from the objects around the workspace. It feels workable and liveable but pulled together, with plenty of organized storage.
I’ll be sure to share pictures when I get my space finished in a few weeks, I’ve got a few more decisions to make and some IKEA shelving to assemble in the meantime!
