Washi Wall, WTF, and the coolest mirror…Happy Weekend!

FF1 Washi Wall, WTF, and the coolest mirror...Happy Weekend!

Oh, how our Prairie Hive team makes me laugh!  What started with an innocent text about what someone was wearing that day, turned into an hour + group messaging spree discussing bloggers taking pictures of their feet on Instagram (what’s the best angle, how do you get the whole outfit in there, how hard can it BE after all?) and ended with us all deciding to put our own outfits (and feet) on our Instagram for the day (our handle is prairiehive, hop on and follow us!).

Can you guess who is who?

We think we may make this a habit – although there were some protests that Friday is the least cute day of the week.

For those of you who aren’t trying to photograph your own feet this weekend, here are some of my faves:

Coolest Mirror Ever.  (perfect for homes with limited storage!)

WT Fork?

As someone who is constantly tripping over a large dog bed, I can’t help but get on board with this built in nook for Fido(s).

Just when I thought I was over washi tape, something as cute as this wall comes along…

PS – In case you can’t stand the suspense: Clockwise, from top: Dawn, Lisa, Sarah, Kim, Roxanne, Alayna.  And yes, we were all a bit jealous that Lisa squeezed in a pedi today.

Time.  There’s never enough, is there?  I’m a huge fan of the Teux Deux app – the task rollover from day to day is fantastic (among tons of other great features) – until you have a few unproductive days in a row and your list is 20 items long.  I’ve been mentally debating whether it would be more or less overwhelming to have a time estimate assigned to each task.  Because 20 “take out trash” type items seem like (visually anyway) more than I can handle, but overall take less time than say a “write next week’s blog post”.  Thoughts?

So that’s what my weekend looks like, how about you?

In case you need some help procrastinating YOUR to-dos:

On my list: Bathroom cabinet purge.  Here are some great ideas for getting your beauty supplies organized.

Maybe incorporate this…bunny butt cotton ball dispenser!  Cute or weird?

I know my answer to this one…Creepiest.  Trend.  Ever.

OK, OK, Quick!  Get that image out of your head with this deliciousness.  Valentines Day meal, anyone?

Usually my weekend images have some relation to what’s going on during the week…but this week, I just loved this door!  Nothing like starting the year off with some cheery inspiration.  What’s on your agenda?

For your web browsing…

I’m now obsessed with this built-in coffee bar…with mug-sized shelving and all.  Dream kitchen must!

And how about this bag?

Not technically a DIY, but why wouldn’t you splatter paint your own stepstool?

New breakfast to try: Banana Oatmeal Cups.  I think the kiddo would love these ( with blueberries instead of chocolate to boost the healthy factor)!

Enjoy!

After a short hiatus, I’m back again with some of my favorites from this week.  And none of them have anything to do with fall, or pumpkins, or the holidays.  Maybe I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all this week, but here are a few fun things I found, regardless:

You know you’re in a hipster home if….  (how many are you guilty of?)

One of the yummiest sounding savory/sweet foods I’ve come across in a while.

Coolest table ever.  Just a bit out of the budget, but hey – a girl can dream.

Cute idea for an emergency birthday party kit.

Don’t forget to check out An Affair of the Heart in Tulsa this weekend!  Start that holiday shopping now!

Welcome fall weather!  So happy to see you.  And just in time for Halloween, too – how nice.  What festivities do you have planned this weekend?  We will be heading down to Guthrie Green for the Ghouls on the Green Sunday Market…great excuse to test drive the little guy’s costume and take some pics at the gorgeous park!

While you’re cozied up this weekend, check these out:

Did you know we are on Instagram?  We’ve been giving followers sneak peeks at our Winter Issue photo shoot!  Follow us at user name prairiehive to get a look!

A last minute craft for your Halloween party…(because you know you have a few of these around) – painted wine bottles!

Cute little DIY placecard holders.

Usually when someone says “wall decal” I die a little inside.  But these confetti polka dots are pretty fun – a good way to perk up an office or kids room!

More brightly colored circles – but a great cheap DIY for some fun or temporary circular display.

The weather this weekend should be perfect for an outdoor dinner!  If you missed our party last fall, go back and check it out, from the recipes to the cider bar – what a great way to enjoy one of my favorite times of year!  Another way – Oktoberfest – this weekend in Tulsa!  Mmmm, sauerkraut (I’m being serious).  If you need a little Autumn inspiration, check out our new Pinterest board – we are pinning our favorite Fall decorating ideas, recipes, Halloween and Thanksgiving ideas and more, from now until December!

And don’t forget to keep voting for us in The Tulsey Awards! Vote every day til November 1!

A few favorites from this week:

I’m in love with these dog prints…I just wish the Shih Tzu was a little more macho.

S’moretini’s.  Who knew Marshmallow Vodka even existed?

I’ve always thought gold pumpkins were a little much for my decor, but I like these more playful versions.

The Target obsession continues.  The Nate Berkus Collection hits this weekend.  What will you be grabbing up?

So many cool things to talk about this week, I don’t even know where to begin.  I’ll start by tooting (our) own horn…Prairie Hive was nominated for a Tulsey Award! For any out-of-towners, the Tulseys celebrate entrepreneurs in the Tulsa area, and we are so thrilled to have even been nominated!  We would be even more thrilled if we won, so here’s how you can vote: Go here, every day til November 1 to cast your vote (we are in the last category).   Some of our friends, sponsors and partners are also nominated (Indie Emporium, Gleeful Peacock) so throw a vote their way too!

OK, the self promotion is over.  Here are my other faves from this week:

I know Fall just started, but Pantone has released it’s Spring 2013 Fashion Forecast.  Looks like Monaco Blue is the New Tangerine Tango.  What do you think?

Check out this cool app that turns your phone into a chameleon (and a clock).

Banana.  Chocolate.  Cheese.  Pretzels.  That is all.

I was going to do a pumpkin roundup, but it’s much easier to link to this really good one.

DIY Copper Planters made with yes, ketchup.  2C4W.

Have a great weekend everyone (and don’t forget to VOTE!)!

Whatever the calendar says, it’s really starting to feel like Fall around here!  I’m writing this late –  on Saturday morning – bundled in a sweater, warm cup of coffee in hand.  This is by far my favorite time of the year.  To celebrate, most of my picks for this week are autumn inspired.  Enjoy!

We started an “Autumn” Pinterest Board…it’s filling up fast with some great recipes, fashion picks and more.  Check it out!

Weekend Cocktail: Cider Jack.  YUM.

In time for Halloween: Adorable Ouija Board invitations.

Cute or crazy?  Pet photo pillows. Would you do it?

And in cool table news: Swings at a conference table…AND State shaped side tables.

Have you pulled out the fall decor yet?  Or even better, Halloween?  I’ll be digging my boxes out of the garage this weekend and doing the yearly “how far am I going to take this?” assessment.  This year, I’m all about minimal effort for maximum impact…I think I’ll focus on one or two areas and call it a day.  We would love to see how you decorate for the change in seasons…post your pics to our Facebook wall and share!

Tulsans, don’t miss Indie Emporium this weekend…it runs from 12-10pm at Living Arts in the Brady Arts District.  Tons of fantastic vendors, craft demos, food trucks, music and more!  See you there!

Here are a few of my favorite links from this week:

Just ’cause it’s pretty: photos of Dew Covered Dragonflies.

Get ready to shed a tear: this dog holds a vigil at it’s owner’s grave.

On a lighter note, gorgeous mini magnets!

Get in the mood for fall with this Pumpkin Magic Bar recipe.  Yes, please!

And just for fun…a Giant Macrame Owl.

Along with the chilly weather, the pumpkins are out at Whole Foods, the spice lattes are on the menus at coffee houses, and (woo-hoo!) sweaters are coming out of storage.  We celebrated this week with our Prairie Hive Magazine Fall Issue…have you had a chance to check it out yet?  Don’t miss this adorable couple and their funky, bright home…and the gorgeous, cozy fall picnic we put together. If you’re ready to shop for the fall season (and you’re a Tulsa local), head out to the new Antoinette Bakery next Thursday, September 20 for our first ever Goods & Goodies event!  We are introducing the Noonday Collection to Tulsa…full of jewelry, bags, and home accessories we can’t wait to get our hands on!

My picks for this week:

It’s Decorative Gourd Season, *$#^%@<!s! WARNING – this has terrible language, but man, it’s funny.  In related news, An Open Letter to Pumpkin-Flavored Seasonal Treats.  Thank you to whoever tweeted out this site.  Hilarious.

And oh yeah, it’s also Soup Weather!  Great post on the 10 Best Soup Recipes.

To go along with the soup…Pretzel Cinnamon Rolls.  That’s right.

One of my favorite party ideas in a while…a simple S’mores bar centerpiece (just sterno in pebbles)…

Wow, am I hungry this week or what?  Have a great weekend!
