It’s crunch time, people.  Just a few days til our Fall Issue goes up, and we couldn’t be more excited (except maybe if we were actually finished with it!).  It’s one of our most colorful, which always means it’s one of my favorites.  AND, the featured couple are some of my favorite people around.  Check back Monday and enjoy!

While we are working, you should browse:

Or actually, Tulsans, please browse after you go check out  Guthrie Green  - the new park that just opened in the Brady Arts District!  They will have festivities all weekend (music, art, etc.) and the weather looks to be gorgeous!

It’s getting cooler, but maybe not quite enough yet for a campfire.  Until you’re ready to really roast those marshmallows, check out this S’mores Krispies recipe.  This is happening soon at my house.

I’m a little obsessed with the Land of Nod Blog lately.  So many great ideas!  Not that I need it, but I thought this DIY Dollhouse was way cool.

Speaking of my obsessions, I’m in the midst of a major gallery wall revamp in my house.  To mix frame colors or not to mix?  To put paintings next to photos?  To add in shelves for tchotchkys?  My brain hurts.  Which do you like best?

And finally, to get you in the mood for Monday’s Fall Issue…the home belongs to an architect and a designer that just got married.  Could you date an architect?

See you back here Monday!

As we settle in for a work weekend to get the Prairie Hive Mag Fall Issue laid out, I can’t help but wish my work space looked a little more like this! It’s always hectic when we get down to crunch time on each issue, but this Fall seems even busier, with summer holidays, back to school, and a slew of life changes for our team (last month’s wedding for Roxanne and this fall’s baby for Alayna!).

While we get cranking, here are some of my faves from this week:

Combining TV and design (aaahhh!)…favorite sitcom sets, illustrated in floor plans.

PB&J….frozen, on a stick.  Sigh.

Love the idea of putting your zodiac sign on your side of the bed.

And finally…Babies Eating Lemons.  You can’t help but laugh…it’s cute overload, I promise.

Road Trip time! The Prairie Hive gang is hitting the highway this weekend with a road trip to be featured in our Fall Issue (check back on September 10 to see our destination!).  With summer drawing to a close, my guess is there are lots of families out there doing the same before school starts.  Whatever your destination is this weekend (even a hammock in the back yard) – here are some great finds from this week!

Speaking of road trips…a great guide for families with kids from the Land of Nod blog!

While we’ve still got a few weeks of sandal weather left…check out these DIY fabric sandals.

If you’re craving a s’more…here’s an upgrade, made indoors.  (Although it’s actually cool enough now for a fire!)

Looking for a spot for my Okie Chalkboard

I’m a huge Roald Dahl fan…who knew he had a cookbook?  Sounds very charming, and a good read as well.

Enjoy the wonderful weather and have a great weekend, everyone!

It looks like the temperatures here in Oklahoma have finally cooled off to something below the surface of the sun.  So I’m ready to get out and enjoy what’s left of summer!  Cabin fever is even worse when it involves an oscillating fan over toasty fires and s’mores, trust me.  Before you get out there, here are a few things to browse while you sip your coffee:

I think this watch was made for me (if I wore one).

I’ve always wished I could pull off lipstick like this.  Would you do it?

IN LOVE with this patio wall.  Perfect solution for a big blank space.

Cute necklace to show off your Okie pride.

Now get out there and enjoy the (high 90′s) cold front!

Happy (Olympics) Weekend!

Well, we are back up and running!  After a week-long tech glitch, I am thrilled that we are back in business in time for the Olympics!  If you haven’t already checked out our Olympic party ideas, head over to my post…the opening ceremonies may be over, but all the ideas could be adapted for a favorite sport or event watch party!  Personally I can’t wait for the swimming and of course, gymnastics.  Since I’ve definitely got Olympic fever, forgive my themed links this week.  If you’ve got it too, follow our Olympics Pinterest board – we will be pinning ideas, great images and inspiration throughout the games!

Would love to order this garland for an Olympic party…

Cutest Milk and Cookies ever!

Or for a grown up crowd – red, white and blue sangria!

How does everyone feel about Wenlock?

A healthier fish & chips recipe.  Yum!

Enjoy the games, everyone!

LL Bean, Dogs with Ice Cream and more…Happy Weekend!

Hot enough for ya?  I joke, I joke…but seriously, when will this end?  The best part about this weather is the good excuse to eat all the cold, summery treats…and maybe indulge a bit in some bad summer TV.  Or is that just me?  What’s your favorite summertime vice?

While you’re thinking…a few of my faves from this week:

As someone who has overshared a bit online, I loved this article on Apartment Therapy pondering exactly why we want to put our homes and lives online…and why we care about other people’s.

How cute are these house numbers?

Have you checked out LL Bean lately?  Me either.  But when this outfit popped up on Pinterest this week…I was intrigued.  Man, it is WAY cuter than I ever thought – what a great new (old) source!

I’m loving this gold lamp from Land of Nod.  I’m going to have to start shopping in the kids’ section more often!

And finally, Dogs with Ice Cream.  Enough said.

Tie Dye, Mad Scientists and Blueberries…Happy Weekend!

It seems like this week has been all about vacations, be it road trips or cross country treks.  Did you take some time off?  After probably the most low key celebration ever this week (which was exactly what my busy household needed!), it was back to the grind around here…

Between fireworks and veggie burgers, I did manage to find these:

Adorable DIY Tie Dye Sheets.

I can’t decide which I love more, the ceiling or the bar cart.

Gorgeous agate clocks.

Just the dessert for that bin of blueberries in my fridge.

Put these on my shopping list: Mad Scientist Blocks.  (Although I don’t think my 6 month old will understand “N”anotechnology for a while)!

Enjoy the last bit of your holiday week!!

Prosecco Floats, Trash, and Remembering Nora Ephron…Happy Weekend!

Well hello there, summer! After a week of temps over 100, I’m kind of over it, how about you?  Alas, it’s only (almost) July.  Isn’t it the worst when a holiday falls mid-week like the 4th?  While I certainly appreciated the Wednesday off, it always makes the celebration a little lackluster.  What are your plans?

While you’re cooling off inside, check these out:

Summer treat to try: Prosecco Floats.  YUM.

Cutest trash cans ever.

Do you have a stash of ends of candles in jars (or is that just me?)?  I found a kindred spirit…and a how-to on getting the wax out!

Usually when I hear “wall decal”  I cringe a little.  But these Paige Russell designs from The Wall Sticker Company have won me over.

And finally, I was saddened to hear about Nora Ephron’s death this week.  When Harry Met Sally is still one of my Top 5 favorite movies.  To remember – and smile – here are some of the best quotes from her movies.

Well, it’s here.  Starting today, it looks like the temps are going to hover around the 100 mark for the next week or so….and all of us Okies are crossing our fingers that we aren’t in for another record-breaking summer like last year.  What are you doing to keep cool?

If you’re lounging inside…here are some of my faves from this week to keep you busy:

An INSANE popsicle recipe roundup.  Coconut Nutella or Carrot Cake + Almond Butter Pops anyone?

I’m totally inspired by Emily Henderson’s office organization.  Almost enough to start mine…

DIY of the week: Gold Tube Bracelets.  Perfect for people like me who are kind of afraid of the bead store.

So I tried these this week: Refrigerator Oats.  Good, in kind of a weird way.

And just to make you smile…Hey Girl, how about those dishes?

Big weekend!  Father’s Day (our first!), another OKC Thunder game, and the re-opening of the Admiral Twin Drive-In here in Tulsa!

Did you have a chance to check out our latest Prairie Hive Magazine this week!  In addition to a wonderful family in a quirky home in North Tulsa, we are sharing a bright, casual party to celebrate summer (check the blog last week too for additional recipes and DIYs!).  If you haven’t had a chance yet, check it out!

Some GREAT finds from this week:

Just when we thought we couldn’t love IKEA any more, they go and do this.  Pencil us in for a pilgrimage in August, when the collection is released.

Straight up wall jewelry.  Drool.

YUM of the week for us sweet/savory folks: Cranberry Walnut Feta Cookies.

Gorgeous Eco-friendly toys, made from sawdust (love the food sets!).

Coolest carafe ever.

Have a good one, everybody! Happy Father’s Day!
